Salewa produces equipment for mountain sports, from simple gym bags to more sophisticated equipment for facing high altitudes with style and safety. The identity of these products dates back to the old factory of the Salewa Lederwarenfabrik GmgH opened in 1935. The reference to the saddler, type of hide and articles shows that originally the factory was specialised in the production of transmission belts in leather and horses’ tackle. Only later on, with the experimental production of sports equipment, did the factory become a reference point at international level. In the summer after the Second World War, their first gym bags appeared on the market, then in the winter, it was the turn for backpacks and ski poles. That was the start of a very interesting specialisation, continuing with ice pins, picks and crampons, everything needed in the kit of a mountain sportsman. Salewa was also one of the first companies to offer the public the lightweight climbing helmet we find on sale today. Salewa’s are also other products that we find difficult to associate with this brand but which have made the history of sports equipment: the first functional fibre made from maize, or the Attac snap-hook for the climb. So, if you are looking for Salewa, you are looking to live your adventures at high altitude in safety and you really must also see their shoes in the alpineXtrem Pro line. You can keep your head in the clouds with Salewa to guide you with products that are always highly advanced, technical and extreme.
